Spring is just about here, with the last few cold days passing through and the August winds giving one last bellow, the cold season is just about done. The new season symbolises renewal and growth. It represents the moving on from the old and gloomy, to the new and vibrant.

Everyone is coming out of the “hibernation” of winter, and there is no doubt that your bed was put to good use during the cold months! This is the time for you to look out for some of the signs you may need to upgrade.

Signs You Need a New Bed

1. Your Mattress is Older than 7 Years Old

Mattresses come with a warranty covering more than this time period, but it’s not an indication of the actual life of your mattress. Around 7 years on is when the product starts to lose its comfort, shape and the support it once offered.

2. Your Body is Complaining

A good mattress provides more support than you might think. With a fresh mattress, you should get a good night’s sleep and wake up feeling refreshed. If this is not the case, and you’re restless and achy throughout the night – waking up feeling stiff. This is a sign from your body that your mattress is no longer providing the right support.

3. Your Mattress Sinks in the Middle

If you’re waking up in the middle of your bed, sunk in a little low – your mattress needs replacing. This is another sign of the mattresses age and the fact that it won’t be providing the right support for your body.

4. You Suffer from a Persistently Stuffy Nose

Dust mites and other allergens find their way into your mattress over time, especially if you aren’t using a mattress cover. This leaves you feeling as if you have a cold when you wake up in the mornings. This further negatively impacts the quality of your rest.

5. Your Bed is Visibly Lumpy

As your bed ages, it loses shape. When you make your bed in the mornings and you can’t seem to get rid of the lumps and bumps under your sheet – it’s a sign of old age. These lumps and bumps are part of the reason for your back pain.

6. You’re Still Exhausted When You Wake Up

If your mattress isn’t supporting you as it should, you’ll wake up groggy and exhausted – feeling like you haven’t slept well. An old mattress will have you tossing and turning, waking up throughout the night. If you have a newer mattress, you will have a quality sleep and wake up feeling ready for the day.

You spend a third of your life in your bed. Having a mattress that will allow quality rest is essential for your overall well-being, so don’t waste a third of your life being uncomfortable.
